Domestic Renovation

Brief

Our clients wanted to remodel their existing home. Demolishing the rear conservatory, opening up the dining room and kitchen, and introducing a single storey extension to the rear to create a large open plan family space.

The Solution

The existing building was substantial with concrete floors on the first and second levels meaning we needed to look at alternatives to the usual steel structures used for these types of renovations. Our solution not only achieved the brief but was more cost effective too.

The final build included a full length glazed ridge, up lit by LED lights which creates a feature in both the day and night. Large sliding doors were added to the rear, with hidden electrically operated blinds built into the wall construction.

Taking inspiration from detail elsewhere in the property we introduced a feature circular window within the gable wall, to create consistency with the existing design. Internally the extension included a full-length entertainment wall. With an inset gas fire on the opposite wall, including full height shelves to create a library / reading area, perfect for those quite evenings.
