Domestic Renovation

Brief

Our clients wanted to transform their family home from the traditional layout offering separate rooms, to a more modern open plan kitchen, dining and family space.

The Solution

The existing kitchen and dining rooms were opened up into one, and a single story extension was added to the full width of the rear of the property. The extension was finished with full width bi-folding doors, which opened up onto the rear garden maximising the feeling of space, and roof lights above to create allow natural light to flood into the property.

The kitchen was positioned at the rear of the property, including a popular island, which gives the feeling of being outside when the doors are open fully.

The brief also considered the introduction of an attic conversion to gain an extra bedroom and en-suite facilities. We achieved this by altering the roof form, from a hip type to gable ended roof, and using two rear facing dormers. This end result was a large children's bedroom and en-suite complete with original features such as the corbelled brick chimney.
